Julia Angwin talked about an investigation launched by The Wall Street Journal into how online companies use tracking technology for the purposes of learning about a user’s behavior and interests. The series examined the 50 most popular U.S. websites (including its own) to learn what kinds of tracking files and programs the sites downloaded. She also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
