Terry Francona enjoyed a successful eight-year run with the Boston Red Sox, with John Farrell serving as his right hand man for four of those seasons.

Francona, now in his second season with the Cleveland Indians, will always have a special relationship with his former pitching coach and current Red Sox manager, as the two were also teammates during their playing days with the Cleveland Indians.

On Friday, Farrell announced he’s stepping away from baseball for the rest of the season to battle stage-1 Lymphoma. But it should come as no surprise that Farrell will have his good friend by his side when he begins chemotherapy this week.

“I may not do anything other than get in the way,” Francona told reporters Monday. “But the only thing I know how to do is be a friend.”  Click link for full post from CBSBoston.com.
